KOSTGard® Cylinder Oils

KOSTGard Cylinder Oils are premium high viscosity oils designed for the lubrication of enclosed worm gears. They provide excellent worm gear protection where heavy loads, slow speeds or high temperatures demand enhanced protection. KOSTGard Cylinder Oils are engineered to lubricate steam engines. They are less susceptible to oxidation, thermal degradation and, build-up of harmful deposits caused by high temperatures. They also provide rust and corrosion protection, good film strength and lubricity, and washout by excessive water. KOSTGard Cylinder Oils may also be suitable for bearings and gears operating with low speeds and high temperatures. These oils tend to form emulsions but readily separate from water when in the reservoir.

KOSTGard Cylinder 460 is recommended for saturated and superheated steam up to temperature of 260°C. For temperatures above 260°C, the use of KOSTGard Cylinder 680 and 1000 are recommended. They all can be applied by force feed and drip feed mechanical lubricating devices.
